Web terminal
The web terminal gives you a full interactive shell on your hosting right in the browser – no SSH client needed.
Where to find it
In the customer panel, open the hosting detail, go to the Development tab and its Deployments section. At the very bottom there's a Web terminal strip with an Open terminal button that opens the terminal in a new tab. This is the only place the terminal can be opened from – there's no link to it from the hosting overview.
The Deployments section (and with it the web terminal) is only available when:
- the hosting has SSH enabled,
- you have deployments permission,
- the hosting isn't on the business-card website plan – that plan doesn't have a Development tab at all.
How the connection works
- The panel requests a one-time authentication token from the server
- Your browser opens a WebSocket connection using that token
- The server starts
/bin/bashas a login shell on your hosting, running as your SSH user - Terminal input and output are streamed over the WebSocket
The terminal runs as the same user you connect with over SSH – no commands are blocked or restricted, you have full access to whatever that user is allowed to do on the hosting.
Token renewal, keep-alive and idle timeout
- The token is valid for 15 minutes and is automatically renewed roughly 3 minutes before it expires, without interrupting the session
- The server keeps the connection alive with a ping every 15 seconds
- After 30 minutes of inactivity (no input at all) the session is closed automatically
Practical notes
- The terminal is great for quick tasks – checking logs, one-off commands, git operations outside the Deployments section
- Closing the tab or hitting the idle limit ends the session; just open the terminal again from the same strip
- For longer sessions or multiple windows, a regular SSH client is more convenient – find your connection details on the Services tab (see SSH Access)
