File Manager
File Manager is a web-based equivalent of an FTP client – it lets you browse, edit and manage your hosting's files straight from the browser, without needing FTP or SSH access.
Where to find it
In https://panel.cloudweb.sk, open the hosting, go to the Services tab, and click the File Manager tile.
Browsing
The top bar has a button to go up one level, breadcrumbs showing the current path, a filter that searches within the currently open folder, a toggle for showing hidden (dot) files, and a refresh button.
Uploading files
The Upload files button lets you pick one or more files, and Upload folder uploads an entire folder with its subfolder structure. Files are uploaded in chunks, so even larger files upload reliably over a slower connection – individual chunks are retried automatically if a transfer fails. If a file with the same name already exists in the destination, you're asked whether to overwrite it or skip that file (you can also choose "do the same for the remaining conflicts" when uploading several files at once).
Editing files
Clicking a text or code file (PHP, JS, CSS, HTML, JSON, YAML, .env, .htaccess, log and similar) opens the built-in editor with syntax highlighting. Save your changes directly in the editor. The editor is meant for smaller text files – larger binary or very large files don't open for editing, but can be downloaded.
New folder, rename, move, copy, delete
The New folder button creates a subfolder in the current location. A selected file or folder can be renamed, moved to… or copied to… another location, and a selection (one or several items at once) can be deleted.
Permissions (chmod)
A file or folder's context menu has a Permissions item where you enter the numeric (octal) permission mode, for example 755 or 644. For a folder, you can also apply the change recursively to everything inside it.
Compressing and extracting
Selected files or folders can be compressed with the Compress button – you choose a name for the resulting archive and a format, ZIP or TAR.GZ. An existing archive in a supported format (ZIP, TAR, TAR.GZ/TGZ, TAR.BZ2/TBZ2, TAR.XZ/TXZ, or a single compressed GZ, BZ2 or XZ file) can be extracted from its context menu's Extract item, which offers to extract it into the folder the archive is in. Extract is not offered for other formats such as RAR or 7Z – File Manager recognises them as archives but cannot unpack them.
Downloading
With a single file selected, the button in the panel becomes Download and downloads exactly that file. With several items selected (or a single folder), Download as ZIP is offered instead, which packs the selection into one archive.
Search
The magnifying-glass icon opens the search panel. Your search text is matched against both file names and file contents at the same time. A toggle lets you narrow the search to the current folder, or widen it to the whole hosting.
Sensitive files
Files whose name contains strings such as .env, config.php, wp-config.php, .htpasswd, private SSH keys (id_rsa and similar) or system files like shadow/passwd are protected by File Manager against viewing, editing, downloading, renaming, moving, copying, deleting and permission changes – those actions are blocked for them. You can still reach their content over FTP or SSH.
Limits
The editor can open files up to 5 MB for editing. When compressing, an archive may contain at most 50,000 entries and its uncompressed content may not exceed 5 GB.
