Hosting backups: manual, scheduled, restore
Whole-hosting backups live on the hosting's page, under the Backups tab (not available for Vizitka plans). This is a separate feature from backing up a single database, which is done on the Databases page – see Databases: creating, credentials, import and backups.
What a backup contains
When you create a backup, you choose its scope:
- Full Backup – files + database,
- Files Only – just the website files,
- Database Only – just the MySQL database.
A hosting backup does not include mailboxes.
Manual backup
The Back up now button starts a backup (it runs in the background, and progress is shown right in the list). You can create at most one manual backup per hour.
Automatic (scheduled) backups
The Schedule section shows the scheduled-backup settings. This feature is only part of some plans (the backup_included field); if your plan does not include it, the panel says so and offers an upgrade – manual backups are still available without it.
Plans with automatic backups and their maximum retention (backup_retention_days):
| Plan | Automatic backups | Max. retention |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | yes | 7 days |
| Business | yes | 14 days |
| Professional | yes | 30 days |
| Vizitka / Vizitka + e-mail | no | – |
When your plan allows automatic backups, you can set:
- Enable automatic backups – on/off,
- Frequency (daily/weekly/monthly) and preferred time (server time),
- Retention in days, up to the ceiling your plan allows,
- What to back up – files, databases, or both (at least one must be selected),
- Exclude paths – an optional list of paths to leave out of the backup (one per line).
If support manages the frequency and time directly on the server, the panel says so and the frequency/time fields become read-only – you still control the scope, retention and exclusions yourself.
Backup list
The top card is a protection status – when the last successful backup ran and how large it was, or a warning that no successful backup has run yet or that the last one is out of date. Below it is the backup list itself, with All/Completed/Running/Failed filters, search, size, storage location (Local / Remote / Local + Remote) and duration.
Actions on a single backup
- Download – downloads a completed backup.
- Restore – irreversibly overwrites the hosting's current state: it deletes all current files in the hosting, drops and restores the databases from the backup, and overwrites any changes made since the backup was taken. If the database the backup belongs to no longer exists, the panel prompts you to choose a different target database or create a new one.
- Push to remote / Pull to local – available when a backup is stored only locally, or only on remote storage; moves a copy of the backup between the server's local disk and remote storage without restoring anything.
- Delete – individually, or in bulk by selecting several backups; a backup that is still running cannot be deleted.
A backup marked Permanent is protected from automatic deletion when old backups are cleaned up according to your retention setting.
