Changing a hosting plan
A hosting's plan can only be changed by its owner – collaborators with access to the hosting (see collaborators) do not have this option, even if they hold every other permission.
Where to find it
In https://panel.cloudweb.sk open the hosting, on the Overview tab find the current-plan card and click Change plan. A "Change hosting plan" window opens with a list of available plans (business-card plans and your current plan are not listed). After you pick a new plan, the panel immediately calculates a preview – days remaining until the next invoice, the current plan's value, and the amount due or the credit that would apply.
Upgrade (a higher plan)
You only pay the difference for the remaining days of the current billing period – not the new plan's full price. Once confirmed, the panel issues an invoice for that difference and immediately tries to charge your saved payment card. If you have no card on file or the charge fails, you are redirected to the invoice's payment page – the new plan is only activated once it is paid. The hosting's limits (disk, databases, mailboxes…) update the moment the change actually takes effect.
Downgrade (a lower plan)
Applied immediately, without waiting for payment. The unused value of the current plan is never refunded in cash or as credit – it is converted into days at the new plan's rate, and your next invoice date is pushed back by that many days. Files, databases, mailboxes and DNS records stay untouched on a downgrade.
A downgrade is blocked if your current usage exceeds the new plan's limits – the panel compares your used disk space, domain count, database count, mailbox count (excluding system mailboxes) and FTP account count against the target plan's limits, and lists exactly which ones would not fit. In that case you first need to reduce usage (for example delete unused databases or mailboxes) and try the change again.
Free plans
If either the current or the new plan costs €0, the change is applied immediately with no invoice.
Custom pricing
If your hosting has a custom (individually agreed) price, changing the plan from the customer panel always removes that custom price and switches the hosting to the standard price of the newly chosen plan. This behaviour cannot be changed from the panel.
When a change is not possible
- The hosting is suspended, cancelled or terminated.
- The hosting has no expiry date set, or its expiry date has already passed – it needs to be renewed first.
- You have an unpaid invoice from a previous plan change – pay it first.
- Another plan change is still in progress (for example waiting for an upgrade invoice to be paid).
- You already changed the plan within the last 24 hours – a plan can be changed at most once a day.
Confirming the change
Before submitting, the panel shows a summary (which plan you are switching from and to, when it takes effect, any amount due) and requires you to type the exact word confirm into a field. The change cannot be submitted without that word typed correctly.
Once the change is complete, the hosting is reconfigured in the background to the new limits, and you are notified by e-mail and by an in-panel notification.
