Email Migration

CloudWeb provides easy email migration from your old hosting provider using IMAP sync (imapsync). All emails, folders, and structure are transferred to your new CloudWeb hosting.

Where to find migration

In the user panel, navigate to Email Management → Migration.

Step-by-step migration process

1. Preparation

Before starting the migration, make sure that:

  • The destination mailbox already exists on your CloudWeb hosting (create it in the Email Mailboxes section)
  • You have the login credentials for the source IMAP server (old hosting)
  • You know the password of the destination mailbox on CloudWeb

2. Source server settings

  • IMAP host – address of the old hosting's IMAP server (e.g., mail.old-hosting.com)
  • Port – default 993 for SSL/TLS
  • Username – email address or username
  • Password – password for the source mailbox
  • SSL – enable if the source server supports encrypted connections

3. Select destination mailbox

Select an existing CloudWeb mailbox from the list and enter its password.

4. Start the migration

After clicking Start Migration, an imapsync process starts in the background that:

  • Connects to both servers
  • Synchronizes all emails and folders
  • Shows real-time progress – message count, folders, percentage

Progress tracking

The migration status auto-refreshes every 5 seconds. You will see:

  • Percentage progress
  • Number of synchronized messages
  • Number of synchronized folders
  • Status: pending, processing, completed, or failed

Migration history

In the History tab, you can see all past and current migrations. Pending or failed migrations can be deleted or cancelled (requires entering a verification code).

Security

All login credentials are encrypted in the database and are used exclusively for migration purposes.
